Winning & Losing Opportunities

Keeping track of your Opportunities is crucial to the success of your sales pipeline – CRM lets you select from Status options Open, Won and Lost.

When a new record is created, the default Status field value is Open.

There are a few ways that you can update the Status of your Opportunity records:

Via the Stage field

You can assign different Status options to apply to your Stage field so that when you update the Stage, the Status is automatically updated with a predetermined choice.

You’ll also notice that when the record is in edit mode, the Status field is greyed out – that’s because you can’t edit it directly as its value is determined by the Stage field.

For example:

  • I may have a Stage called “Not interested” which would automatically update the Status of the record to Lost.
  • I could have a Stage called “Quote accepted” which would automatically update the Status of the record to Won.
  • If I wanted to leave the Status of the record as Open because it’s still in the pipeline, I would link this to Stages like “Enquiry”, “Qualified”, “Quoted” etc.

Via Kanban View

You can drag & drop Opportunity records onto Remove, Lost or Won to automatically update the Status of a record.

  • If you drag the record onto Lost, you will be prompted to select a Loss Reason.
  • If you drag the record onto Remove, this will delete the record and you will be prompted to confirm the deletion.
