Connecting to Xero
To connect CRM with Xero, follow the simple steps below.
- Go to Admin > Integrations.
- Click to Activate the Xero integration.
- To connect with Xero, simply click on the Connect to Xero button.
- You will be taken to Xero’s authorisation portal where you will need to log in with your Xero credentials.
You need to ensure that you are logging into Xero with credentials that have a ‘Standard’ permission role assigned – logging in with credentials for an ‘Invoice Only’ or ‘Read Only’ role will not populate data to CRM as there is not an adequate level of permission to implement the integration.
- You then need to allow CRM to access your Xero account – click Allow Access here.
- Once you have logged into the Xero authorisation portal, you’ll return to CRM to see a list of data files that have been found in Xero – select the applicable data file you want to connect with CRM by ticking the box next to the file name.
- If you tick the Sync Invoice Item Descriptions box it means that as well as the item name, quantity and price, the item description will also be synced from CRM to Xero – see our guide on Xero data sync settings for more information.
Note that you can only connect 1 accounting datafile to CRM at a time.
- Depending on the size of the accounting datafile, the import process will take a few minutes to complete – the progress of the import will show on the screen.
You can continue to use CRM in other tabs while the import process is taking place.
- When complete, you will see a confirmation screen letting you know the CRM is connected to Xero.
- On the integrations screen the button will now show as Settings rather than Activate.

Note that by default all data sync preferences are set to Manual – this means that data will only move between the systems if you choose to manually import or export records.
